About Hammer Creek...

Picture
The Name
I grew up fishing a little stretch of water in Pennsylvania called the Hammer Creek. It's stocked with trout, but a couple months into the season it runs too warm to sustain a population. The rest of the year is spent catching bass & pan fish. Though it's a far cry from the famed limestone streams of the state, for me, it holds a certain sense of nostalgia.  It's where we went opening day, the stream I fished over my lunch break and the place I meet my grandfather to "dip a line" and "smoke a stogie." I since moved to the Midwest and don't fish the Hammer anymore, but when I think of my favorite streams, despite its flaws, it's at the top of my list. So I found it fitting to call the site Hammer Creek...and I liked the name.

The Site
I'm not a guide, shop owner or even in "the industry." I've got a desk job, but spend most of my time engaged in fly fishing activities even if  just day dreaming. I fish enough to be a serviceable angler, but not often enough to satisfy my appetite. I assume that makes me a lot like you and the majority of fly fisherman. I want this site to reflect my fly fishing style and view of the sport. I'll share the things I have knowledge and opinion on and leave the rest alone. If I've done things right the site will be a place to share, educate and entertain...thanks for stopping by.
